The Wonder of Live Action

As a fans of anime and manga, especially the absurdity and 'things that can only happened in anime/manga world'
I, sometimes, feel scared if there is a rumor/news about remake of my favorite anime/manga into live action (drama) version.

You know what I'm talking about right?
For example, in anime/manga, it's common to find character with cuteness and height which doesn't even fit his/her age. But because that character created and lived in anime/manga, of course it's possible for him/her to exist. I also talked about some unique personality trait an anime/manga characters posses. You wouldn't find a super eccentric character with Kappa's costume or a rich, half-Japanese student, who acted all princey in real world. And I thought those kind of characters wouldn't really fit in if you put them in a live-action, considering a real people would play their character and the atmosphere of the real world because of those real people.

To make things sorter, I just want to say that sometimes I feel like a certain anime/manga doesn't really fit to be adapted to a real life situation/a live action version.

There's some title which adapted to live action version, and some are just disappointing MySpace

Aside from that, tonight I want to share dramas/live action version of anime/manga which I consider good, despite that the anime/manga they adapted has a heavy-anime/manga feel! There is two, and these two is relatively new because the first one still on episode 2 and the other one only have one episode as for now^^

Let me introduce you~~~

1. Ouran High School Host Club

Set in your everyday world, both anime/manga and the drama told us about the story of Haruhi Fujioka, a poor student who have to work at her school's host club to pay off her debt for breaking an expensive vase. The member of the club are the most eccentric Tamaki Suoh, the twin brother Hikaru and Kaoru Hitachiin, the coolest vice-president of the club Kyoya Ootori, the cute senpai Mitsukuni Haninozuka, and the quiet senpai Takashi Morinozuka. For you who want to put your heart at ease with a perfect man at your side, the Ouran High School Host Club is at your service!

- Review of the Live Action version

It's love at first sight MySpace
Well, some things needs to be adjusted for this version (like Tamaki's hair is not exactly blonde but more like dirty blond/brown, there's not that much of height difference between Honey and the other members (well of course, they can't probably told an actual elementary student to play as high schooler, right? ==a), etc). But to put it simply, I love how this drama brought Ouran's world to the real world. Especially, Yamamoto Yusuke who played as Tamaki Suoh!

I love his expression, I love his acting, and I love the way he portrait Tamaki-senpai unique personality to the real world. I took note of him since I saw him on 'Tumbling", but now I know that he deserves more love!

2. Arakawa Under The Bridge

A most eccentric manga/anime, the most absurd, and also full of eccentric characters and one of those series who pull every possibilities in anime/manga world in a great way! Arakawa Under The Bridge is revolving around life under the bridge called Arakawa, following the story about a man named Kou Ichinomiya--a rich man who refused to have debt and his principal is to never rely on somebody. When he accidentally fell of the bridge, a girl who claim herself as a Venussian help him, thus Kou is in greatest debt with that girl called Nino. To repay his debt, he's willing to do anything what Nino asked, but it turn out that Nino's only wish is to have him as a lover. And then, Kou's begin to live under the bridge with his lover, Nino....

-Review of the Live Action version

I'm not expecting much when I heard there's going to be a remake of Arakawa. I feel that every element in Arakawa is not something that can be brought to live version that easily. And I also thought it wouldn't fit too, because how will it look like to have the whole community of Arakawa in live version? Wouldn't it be to absurd in real life atmosphere? But when I saw the first episode, I was blown off.

Although, like Ouran, there's some adjustment to fit the possibilities of real life, it doesn't kill the interesting part of this title. I don't find the way they portrait the characters is disturbing/annoying. Instead, I feel like 'If Nino/Kappa/Sister/etc really exist they will look and act like this"

Plus, I can't believe that the one who play as Kappa is THAT Shun Oguri. I can't even believe my eyes. At first, I'm not really a fans of Oguri. But to find out that he can play as the mayor, I give him my respect =v= Another plus is, of course, my most favorite character of this series: Sister! and Shirota Yuu! Sister is played by Shirota Yuu! *dies* I can't find another person more fit to play as Sister! Long live Shirota Yuu!

And that's the end of it.
What about you? Have you watched the dorama I mentioned above? Or do you have another recommendation of good dorama--adapted from anime/manga?

END MySpace
